The Giant Bat of Maglrat de Mar

In the past, in Malgrat de Mar, some children went on a walk through the old iron mines of Can Palomeres. The mines were abandoned, so they didn’t think they would find anything. To their surprise, however, they saw a group of little creatures hanging upside down, and they looked like they were asleep. The children, who loved animals, decided to keep the existence of this large flock a secret, since word had spread that there was a giant bat that visited the town at night and many people wanted to get rid of it. As a thank you, the bats took charge of eliminating the plagues of mosquitoes during the summer, and pollinating the plants during the spring. Most importantly, they never went out into the town in the middle of the night so as not to frighten the people of Malgrat. That pact has lasted to this day, and no one has ever laid eyes on the Giant Bat again.
