The Witches of Pedraforca Berga

Many years ago, the Saracens terrorised the people of Pedraforca. One day, after a night of strange noises, filled with the cries of a wild beast, a castle suddenly appeared on top of the mountain, seeming to be the work of the devil. From there, the Saracens would attack anyone who came near. The villagers, seeing themselves overcome by the forces of evil, began to pray day after day in the hope that it would end. On the last night of the year, the night of Sant Silvestre, a great thunder and lightning storm destroyed the tip of the mountain, and where the enchanted castle once was, only a pile of rocks remained between two points. Since then, the top of Pedraforca has had this peculiar shape and it is said that on the night of Sant Silvestre, screams are heard up the mountain: they are the witches who are having a party in memory of the enchanted castle.
