The Sperm Whale of Sant Feliu de Guíxols

The Sperm Whale was a prodigious cetacean capable of diving to colossal depths. It is also known as a cachalot. He lived in the waters off the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and gobbled up giant squid as if they were tiny little creatures. He was feared and respected by sailors because of his exceptional size and inexhaustible strength. But as legend has it, despite being a sea giant, he cried like a baby. “But why?” you might ask. It seems that he had previously been a pirate. He had built a fish-shaped boat so he could board the ships of the sailors in the area, and be able to get nearer to them without raising suspicion and attack them by surprise. As punishment for his actions, he was turned into a whale. If you approach the coast of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, you might still be able to hear him crying.
