The Siren of Els Ports
Legend has it that in the Pàndols-Cavalls mountains lived a very beautiful girl who, because of a wretched love affair, had turned into a fantastic beast, half woman, half bird: a siren. She had long reddish hair, a beak instead of a mouth, and fed on the blood of the flocks belonging to shepherds in the area. She went out on a full moon looking for company, but all she managed to do was scare the people of the area due to her size and ferocity. One day, tired of being alone and of terrifying people, she left. Her desire to find a cure for her curse and her great wings took her to the Els Ports massif. There she felt very comfortable. She was not an evil beast, but became part of the great community of birds in the area. There she found her place and never again felt alone.
