Cheese elaboration in Taüll

Add to my Wish List

Turismo Vivencial invites you along with your family on a day trip that is closely linked to the traditions and historical crafts of the high mountains. This is an experience where you will learn about the life of a shepherd in the Vall de Boí and find out the secrets of making handmade cheese.

Once you arrive in Täull, you will meet Toni, a goat shepherd who has dedicated his whole life to this profession with his dog. He grew up in these mountains and knows the mountain like the back of his hand. He will share many interesting stories and experiences of how life in the high mountains has changed over the years and you will also see the connection he has with his dog and the herd of goats. The little ones will enjoy watching how the shepherd gives orders to the dog to lead the herd and they will also get the chance to touch some of the goats.

After playing the shepherd, it’s time to visit Rubén, who has an artisan cheese-making workshop (La Quesería, Tossalet 3-5). Here visitors can take part in a workshop where they can see the whole production process up close and enjoy a variety of different types of cheese made in the workshop. All of them are made with milk from organic pasture-grazed herds and have won several awards. Besides, in this workshop, animal welfare and environmental sustainability are also a priority.

At the end of the visit, don’t hesitate to buy some cheese to take home. Like having a piece of the high mountain to savour at home, with family and friends.

If you visit the Boí Valley, you’ll also have the opportunity to discover some culture and visit the Romanesque complex, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

A perfect family day out to enjoy the traditions and flavours of the Pyrenean valleys.
