A walk through Aigüestortes in the Vall de Boí

Add to my Wish List

Nature and the passage of time have been the tools which have shaped one of the most majestic landscapes of the Pyrenees of Catalonia, the Aigüestortes i l’Estany de Sant Maurici. To experience its biodiversity, there is a family route through the Planell d’Aigüestortes. The route starts from the Casa del Parc de Boí, at 1,800 metres above sea level. To get there, the most recommended option if you’re going with children are the park’s taxis, 4×4 vehicles that pick you up at the Treio de Boí square.

The route is circular and flat, has a distance of one and a half kilometres, with one section with a wooden walkway and the other a compacted forest path, so you can also go along it with a pram. You can do the excursion on your own or accompanied by an interpretive guide, but you must make a reservation in advance. The guide option is very educational, it shows you different perspectives of the park and details that you might otherwise overlook, such as the holes made by woodpeckers in the pines or anthills that can be up to a metre high.

To do the route, children must be at least eight years old, as they need more physical resistance to walk on snow, and have minimum shoe size of 32.
