Do you like nature, adventure and sport? In the Vall de Ribes you can enjoy activities that get your adrenaline flowing, such as the via ferrata Roca de la Creu. If you have never hiked before, don’t worry. This activity is the perfect way to get started in the world of via ferrata and also enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
A via ferrata is a mountain route that covers rocky walls or massive rocks both vertically and horizontally. Different elements such as clamps, pegs, suspension bridges and chains make it possible to climb, scale and reach areas that are more difficult to access.
The via ferrata Roca de la Cruz is an initial climbing activity that also has a special peculiarity: it is located on the most extensive and best-known granophyre in Catalonia. Granophyre is a rock that is half between granite and volcanic rock. These reddish-orange rocks are part of an ancient volcanic vent from the Upper Ordovician period (430-460 million years ago).
You will be able to climb them thanks to this tour, which does not require any previous level of physical fitness. During the whole activity, you will be guided by a mountain expert, who will help you with the steps to follow and will plan the activity so that you can enjoy the experience in complete safety.
During the walk you will go over two bridges and three cliffs, until you reach one of the peaks, where the cross and the flag are located. From there you can enjoy an impressive view of Ribes de Freser and the Catalan Pyrenees.
In addition, the activity includes group equipment such as rope, belays, carabiners and belay device, as well as individual equipment such as harness, dissipative straps and helmet. Remember to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and, if you have them, it is also recommended to wear cycling or climbing gloves.
