Illes Medes
The Illes Medes archipelago is located just one mile offshore, directly in front of L’Estartit beach. It is made up of seven islets and is currently one of the most important marine flora and fauna reserves in the Mediterranean. Discover its wonders by snorkelling or scuba diving or take a trip on one of the glass-bottom boats that cruise the area.
Castle of Montgrí
This castle is positioned next to the town of Torroella de Montgrí, at the highest part of the massif. Over the years, climbing up to it has become one of the most popular hikes for both people from the area and visitors, and from the top it offers a spectacular view of L’Empordà. You will be amazed!
Water activities
Windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, paddle surfing, jet skis, boat rentals, kitesurfing, sailing, kayaking and all the water activities you can imagine can be done in L’Estartit, a paradise for lovers of water sports.
Museum of the Mediterranean
At the Museum of the Mediterranean, you can learn about the natural and cultural diversity of the Mediterranean through a journey with your five senses, using sounds and music as a common theme throughout. You will also find a multitude of activities to join in with throughout the year.
The salt marsh of La Pletera and the Gola del Ter
Within the Montgrí Natural Park, the Illes Medes and the Baix Ter, we find La Pletera marsh, an ancient area of salt marshes which is around 300 metres wide and more than 1 kilometre long. In the same natural area there is the Gola del Ter, the current mouth of the Ter river and a space where river and sea waters meet. They are places of great natural beauty that you can discover on foot or by bike, you can observe the fauna and flora for free or, even better, with the help of a nature guide or ornithology expert.
