Malgrat de Mar

Enjoy Malgrat de Marof your family holidays!

More than 4 kilometres of beach, a town with a long tradition of family tourism, wetlands where you can observe several species of birds and plenty of areas which are designed for children to play. Malgrat de Mar is a town located between the provinces of Barcelona and Girona, in a privileged location at the foot of the Maresme region. Here families can enjoy the beach, but also extensive urban green areas such as the Francesc Macià park, specially designed for children to have fun outdoors, and other natural spaces such as the Montnegre i el Corredor park or the Tordera delta, which surround the town centre.
Don’t miss…
Francesc Macià park
Francesc Macià park is not like any normal park; it is full of giant sculptures dedicated to children’s stories, such as a giant shoe, a croissant, a mushroom or a piece of cake. Children can touch them, climb on them or have their picture taken on them. The ideal setting to spend a morning or an afternoon with the family!
L’Astillero beach
In Malgrat there are more than 4 kilometres of sand, split between four different beaches. The one further south is L’Astillero beach, and during the summer it has a children’s club for boys and girls aged 4 to 12 with activities led by instructors.
Tordera delta
The Tordera river starts in the middle of the Montseny massif, between Turó de l’Home and Matagalls, in Sant Marçal, at 1,100 metres of altitude. After travelling for about 61 kilometres, it flows into the sea forming the Tordera delta, where many species of animal which are typical of coastal environments live.
Can Palomeres mines
One of the most emblematic elements of Malgrat is the Pilona, the old platform of the Can Palomeres mines that can be seen from any point on the coast. Following a route from the centre you can reach the loading station and see the tracks where the wagons used to carry out the loads or the remains of a bridge.
Town centre
Beyond the beaches and natural spaces, Malgrat also has a historic centre that is worth visiting. A route through the streets and squares allows you to discover its history, visit the church of Sant Nicolau, the Castle Tower or buildings of interest such as the Peixateries Velles, La Casa de la Vila, the new schools, the Manor House of Clapers, the modernist Torre de Ca l’Arnau or the Torre de la Vídua de Can Sala.
