Urban Green Routes and Modernism on Collserola

The Serra de Collserola offers some privileged views of Barcelona and hides architectural joys of Catalan Modernism. BarcelonArt of Travel helps you to discover by an urban and Modernisme green route, that will reveal the splendid past of the city at the foot of the famous mountain of Tibidabo.

The promenade is started at the Torre Andreu, known as the Rotonda for the impressive temple-viewpoint that the crown. This modernist building built by Adolf Ruiz i Casamitjana in 1906 will be reconverted into the Luxurious Metropolitan Hotel in the late 70’s, it was transformed into the epicenter of select meetings and cultural events.

Following the route at the foot of the Tibidabo, between pines, oaks and holm oaks are more modernist buildings, such as the house Roviralta, that stands out for its upper gallery covered with a roof has bladder contributions and a large cantilever brick.

We will visit the Torre Bellesguard, an atypical work by Gaudí for the severe rectal forms inspired by medieval castles and Gothic churches. Next to it is the Bellesguard Viaduct, a work also unknown to Gaudí, with 10 centenary arches, built between 1903 and 1905, before the Park Güell was designed.
