The Romanesque route of the Vall de Boí
Visiting the Vall de Boí is entering the artistic and cultural heritage of Catalonia. The Catalan Romanesque Churches of the Vall de Boí are exceptional for the concentration of such a large number of churches of the same architectural style in a small space. They have been preserved over time with few modifications and the buildings are of high quality.
This is why it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The set of nine churches includes Sant Climent de Taüll, Santa Maria de Taüll and Sant Joan de Boí. Built between the 10th and 12th centuries, they follow the Lombard Romanesque style characterized by careful stonework, slender bell towers and exterior decoration with blind arches and Lombard bands.
