The medieval town of Cardona
An hour away from Barcelona you can enter the medieval world of the origins of the town of Cardona. Its historic centre was established in the first half of the 11th century when a small village formed around the market that was held at the foot of the castle.*
Strolling along its narrow streets you will see majestic homes such as Casal Graells, a Gothic building from the 12th to 14th century that is currently home to the Municipal Archive and the Historic Cardona Foundation. And you can also go inside the Church of Sant Miquel, a Gothic building from the 14th century that retains Our Lady of Patronage (patron saint of Cardona), a life-size sculpture of the Virgin Mary made of polychrome stone that is considered one of the most beautiful Gothic sculptures in Catalonia.
