The Castle of Cardona
This medieval military fortress, built on the orders of Wilfred the Hairy, Count of Barcelona, and completed centuries later, was the residence of the dukes of Cardona from the 11th to the 15th century.*
The guided tour of the Castle of Cardona will show you the years of history and battles hidden behind these impregnable walls that contain the Torre de la Minyona and the Church of Sant Vicenç, a jewel of Catalan Romanesque architecture. You will also discover why the dukes of Cardona were called the kings without crowns.
One of the curiosities of this castle is that it was the setting for some of the scenes in Orson Welles’ film Chimes at Midnight (1965).
