A journey in memory of the Cathars
Berguedà has a network of almost 2,000 km of historic paths, most of them of medieval origin like the Camí dels Bons Homes.*
This 189 km itinerary between the Sanctuary of Queralt (Berga) and the Château de Montségur (Ariège, France) invites you to take a trip in time to evoke the exile of the Cathars in the 13th and 14th centuries when they fled from the persecution of the Crusades and the Inquisition.
The Occitan Cathars, called Good Men and Good Women, promoted a pure and simple Christianity vis-à-vis the authoritarianism, corruption and ostentation of the Catholic Church in the 13th century. Along this route, converted into a long-distance path (GR-107), you will find Romanesque churches and castles, and you will also cross one of the most outstanding natural parks in Catalonia, Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park.
*We recommend checking Covid-19 restrictions before travelling. Please note that some activities may be disrupted due to the prevention measures in place.
