A voyage through the history of the Gothic Quarter

When you walk through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona the stones speak to you. They speak of a rich historical past with remains from Roman, medieval and Modernist times and many architectural details that are easily missed at first glance.

With Barcelona Walking Tours Gòtic you won’t miss a thing, including the Modernist letter box at the city’s Historical Archive building, designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, with three swallows and a tortoise that symbolize the aspirations of justice and the slowness of bureaucracy.

The oldest part of the city, a witness to many historical events, conceals many treasures and curiosities. As you walk among the remains of the ancient Roman colony of Barcino, medieval palaces and cobbled streets, you will come across, right next to History Museum, the house where the city’s executioner lived in the Middle Ages, who nobody wanted as a neighbour.

This guided tour has an Easy version which is accessible and adapted to the needs of people with restricted mobility.
