A sustainable toast at Oller del Mas
Oller del Mas wines are genuine, keeping practically all the nuances acquired as grapes intact. At this winery they take great care at every stage of the process to preserve this essence, so that you can savour the goût de terroir of DO Pla de Bages and note how Montserrat mountain has imparted its character. Want to know how they do it?
A guided tour shows you every step of the traditional winemaking process. The trip takes you to the vineyards and the winery in a 4×4 and shows you the drystone huts so typical of the DO Pla de Bages region, the ice pit and old pottery kiln and, above all, splendid views of Montserrat.
In the middle of a 400-hectare estate, stands a magnificent fortified farmhouse with over 1000 years of history that houses the winery. It has remained in the family over 36 generations, taking its name from the ceramic pot-making trade that was originally plied here.
Oller del Mas for wine touristsIn addition to the 4×4 tour, there are other ways to visit this DO Pla de Bages winery. You can take a trip through the vineyards in a cart drawn by mules, stopping at two huts on the way to taste the wines, try an oil and wine tasting complete with lunch, or visit the winery and castle, finishing off with dinner in a restaurant.
Committed to wine and the environment
At Oller del Mas they don’t understand taking care of the vineyards without respect for the environment. That’s why nearly all the harvesting is done by hand and the production process is green and certified by the Catalan Council for Agroecological Production (CCPAE).
The winery goes even further, adopting measures to help to halt climate change. It is the first winery in Catalonia to be carbon footprint-certified and has the third-lowest carbon emissions in the world.Doesn’t a toast taste better when you know it’s sustainable?
