Journey to the heart of the vineyards in L’Espluga de Francolí

If you are curious about how wine was made 100 years ago, then a visit to the Rural Life Museum will certainly give you an insight. Here you can show your strength by lifting a 70 kg grape carrier or put your skills to the test by trying to drink from a traditional wine pitcher with a very narrow spout!

The next stop is Fassina Balanyà. At this distillery dating from 1830, you will be shown the process for making strong liquor from pomace (grape skin, pips and pulp). And finally, a wine tasting and guided tour awaits you at the Cooperative Winery and Wine Museum. One of the so-called “wine cathedrals” built in the Catalan Modernist style by the architect Pere Domènech i Roure, the son of Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
